Preparing For Pet Cancer Treatment
In planning a pet’s cancer therapy, we utilize different approaches based on the type of cancer and how far it has progressed. Pets can receive many of the same types of cancer treatments as humans, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, molecular targeted therapy and additional emerging therapies.
Although the mere mention of the word cancer can cause us to respond with trepidation, fear, and heartbreak, pet cancer is a reality for an estimated 12 million dogs and cats diagnosed each year. It is the leading cause of death in pets over the age of 10 years.
