Scheduling an Appointment

Veterinary Oncology Services and Research Center in West Chester schedules new case appointments Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Appointments are generally available within 24–48 hours of the initial call. Please note that a new case appointment may take up to two hours. If a case is in need of an ultrasound exam as the initial work-up, it is recommended to make the appointment on Tuesday afternoon or anytime Thursday so that a separate appointment with the radiologist will not be necessary.

Veterinary Oncology Services’ Radiation Center in Chalfont schedules new appointments Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. New cases can be seen at either facility depending on geographical location of the owner.

Pet owners or referring veterinarians may schedule appointments. You do not need a referring veterinarian to schedule a consultation. You do not need a confirmed diagnosis of cancer to make an appointment.


Please be prepared to provide the following information when scheduling a new case appointment:

  • Your name and phone number
  • Your pet’s name, breed, age, and gender
  • The name of your referring veterinarian, if applicable
  • The diagnosis or description of your concern

Treatment or follow-up recheck appointments are available at either office are Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and in West Chester only on Saturdays 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Patients can be dropped off for the day at either facility if owners cannot make an appointment time. Patients on certain protocols requiring daily treatment are also seen on Sundays.

Radiation patients are treated Monday through Friday between 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. The first day of radiation requires simulation or set up of the radiation field and computer calculations of dosing and takes approximately two hours. Subsequent treatment days require approximately 45 minutes. Patients can be boarded in Chalfont Monday through Friday if owners are not available for daily appointments.


If you are preparing for your first appointment, please bring the following along with your pet or fax in advance:

  • Copies of your pet’s records, including biopsy reports, recent blood results, or written results of any tests your pet has had.
  • Any radiographs, CT, or MRI scans that were taken of your pet.
  • Please print and fill out our canine questionnaire and bring it along to your first visit.   • If your pet is a golden retriever, we ask that you not only fill out the canine questionnaire, but also that you bring along any information you may have about your pet’s breeding (this includes registration information and pedigree). We will ask to collect a blood sample to include in our study of golden retrievers with cancer. If you are already a client of VOSRC:

  • Please bring along (or fax) any blood work done by your local veterinarian, as well as any medications, including non-traditional medications or supplements you may be giving your pet.
  • If you have an emergency after hours and need to contact VOSRC, please use the pager number listed on your discharge sheet.
  • If you have specific questions about your pet’s medication or treatments, please call the office and ask to speak with a technician during business hours.

Driving Directions

From Wilkes Barre/Scranton PA Area
Take Northeast Extension of PA Turnpike south (Rte 476). At Plymouth Meeting, the PA Turnpike (Rte 276) will split east/west. Take PA Turnpike west toward Harrisburg to Valley Forge (Exit 326)/King of Prussia. After tollbooth, continue straight to ramp taking you to Rte 202 south, West Chester. Be careful on this ramp: Stay in left lane to enter Rte 202 south. Take Rte 202 south for approximately 20 miles to Westtown Road exit in West Chester. At end of exit ramp, turn right. In about ¼ mile, take a left at the light and then an immediate right into the parking lot of VOSRC.


From Bucks County PA Area
Get on Northeast Extension of PA Turnpike (Rte 476) at Quakertown. Go south to PA Turnpike (Rte 276) west to Valley Forge (Exit 326)/King of Prussia and follow directions from Wilkes Barre/Scranton area (above) OR take Rte 611 south to PA Turnpike (Rte 276) at Willow Grove. Go west toward Harrisburg. Exit at Valley Forge (Exit 326), and follow directions from Wilkes Barre/Scranton area (above).


From Lancaster/Harrisburg PA Area
Take PA Turnpike east to Downingtown (Exit 312). After tollbooth, take Rte 100 south through Exton. Follow signs for Rte 202 south (this will bear off toward left) toward Wilmington, Delaware. Stay in right lane and get off at Westtown Road exit in West Chester. At end of ramp, turn right. In about ¼ mile, take a left turn at the light and then an immediate right into the parking lot of VOSRC


From Delaware/Maryland Area
Take Rte 95 north toward Wilmington, Delaware. Take Rte 95 through Wilmington and get on Rte 202 north (Concord Pike). Approximately 20 miles on Rte 202 to Westtown Road exit in West Chester. At end of ramp, turn left. In ¼ mile, turn left at the light and then an immediate right into the parking lot of VOSRC.


From Philadelphia, PA
Take Rte 95 south past airport to Rte 322 west. Take left going south on Rte 1. Turn right onto Rte 202 north until Westtown Road exit in West Chester. At end of exit ramp, turn left. In ¼ mile, turn left at the light and then an immediate right into the parking lot of VOSRC. An alternative route would be Rte. 76 as in directions from Northern/Central NJ-below.


From Northern/Central New Jersey
Take Benjamin Franklin or Walt Whitman Bridge to Rte 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) west. Take exit for Rte 202 south. Follow Rte 202 south for approximately 20 miles to Westtown Road exit. At end of ramp, turn right. In ¼ mile, turn left at the light and then an immediate right into the parking lot of VOSRC.


From Glassboro/Atlantic City/South New Jersey Area
Take Rte 322 west to Commodore Barry Bridge. At end of bridge, take Rte 95 south, which will take you once again to Rte 322 west. Take Rte 322 west to Rte 1 south. Take Rte 1 south to Rte 202 north to Westtown Road exit. At end of ramp, turn left. In ¼ mile, turn left at the light and then an immediate right into the parking lot of VOSRC.

Driving Directions

From the West
East on PA Turnpike. Exit at the Fort Washington Exit 339 and follow Route 309 North. After passing a light with Barnes and Noble on the left, you will see a sign for 202 north on the right. Turn right onto 202 North Parkway Bypass (the bypass is before the Montgomery Mall). Stay on the Parkway until you come to the exit for Route 152. At the light you will make a left onto Route 152. Follow Route 152 until it dead ends. Make a right onto W. Butler Ave. and go over a small bridge. On the right you will see the Chalfont Family Restaurant. The Radiation Center is the next building. Turn right into our parking lot.


From the East
West on PA Turnpike. Exit at Willow Grove and take Rte 611 north to County Line Road at the end of Willow Grove Naval Base. Turn left and go approximately five to six miles and make a right turn onto Rte 152. At the dead end, make a right turn and go over a small bridge. On the right, you will see the Chalfont Family Diner. The Radiation Center is the next building. Turn right into our parking lot.


From the North
Take Northeast Extension of PA Turnpike South (Rte 476). Get off at the Quakertown Exit and make a left at the bottom of the ramp (Rte 663). Go to Route 309 and make a right going south. Travel to Montgomeryville (five roads coming together) and make a left onto Rte 202 and go north. Continue approximately four to five miles. You will do down a hill with a traffic signal at the bottom and a car wash on the left. Go through the signal and over a small bridge. On the right, you will see the Chalfont Family Diner. The Radiation Center is the next building. Turn right into our parking lot.


From the South
Take Rte 95 north and get on the Blue Route. Follow that to the PA Turnpike and take the Turnpike to the Fort Washington exit. Go north (right) on Rte 309. You will pass Montgomery Mall on your left and then you will come to a traffic signal where five roads come together. Make a right onto Rte 202 and go north for four to five miles. You will do down a hill with a traffic signal at the bottom and a car wash on the left. Go through the signal and over a small bridge. On the right, you will see the Chalfont Family Diner. The Radiation Center is the next building. Turn right into our parking lot
